Terms of Service
Last updated: September 3, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MovieWhiz mobile app and website (together, the “Service”) operated by MovieWhiz (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2. Your Account
You can play MovieWhiz as a guest or create an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
3. User Content
The Service lets you create challenges, submit answers, and post other content (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant MovieWhiz a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all necessary rights to share it.
4. Acceptable Use
- Do not upload or share content that is illegal, infringing, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that violates the privacy of others.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems.
- Do not use the Service to send spam, malware, or to scrape data in violation of these Terms.
- Do not impersonate other users, public figures, or MovieWhiz staff.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Every challenge carries a report action, and reports reach a moderation queue we work through. Content that breaks these Terms is removed, and accounts that post it are suspended or terminated. You can also block a creator from the same report sheet, which immediately stops their challenges being shown to you; the list of everyone you have blocked is under Settings → Blocked Creators, where you can undo it.
5. Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple, Google, and our payments provider. Pricing and refund eligibility follow the rules of the platform you purchased through.
There is no subscription. Nothing in MovieWhiz renews, and nothing you buy expires.
MovieWhiz Plus is a single permanent unlock, bought once. It grants: the ability to make your own levels with AI, no interstitial advertising, the whole Daily archive, the packs reserved for Plus, and 100 coins included with the purchase. The price is shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase. There is nothing to cancel. Restoring a purchase on a new device re-establishes the unlock; the 100 coins are granted once, with the original purchase, and not again on a restore.
Coins are a virtual item used inside MovieWhiz to generate levels and to buy back a level you have just lost. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money or transferred to anyone else, and are not redeemable outside the app. Coins you buy are non-refundable except where the law or the store’s own policy requires otherwise. Coins can also be earned by playing and by watching optional rewarded ads. We may change what coins cost and what they buy as the game changes, and any unused balance is forfeited if your account is terminated or deleted.
Points cannot be bought. They are earned by playing, and nothing in the store adds a single one.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and curated content, is owned by MovieWhiz and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.
Film titles, stills and metadata are the property of their respective rights holders and are used to identify the films a challenge is about. Film metadata and reference imagery are supplied by TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Reporting infringement. If you believe content on MovieWhiz infringes your copyright or another right you hold, email moviewhiz@shushuo.dev with the subject “Infringement notice”. Tell us what the work is, where in MovieWhiz it appears, how to reach you, and confirm that you hold the right or act for whoever does. We remove content that infringes, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
7. AI-Generated Content
MovieWhiz uses third-party AI providers to generate level images and other content. AI output may be inaccurate or unexpected. You agree not to rely on AI-generated content for any high-stakes purpose and to report content that violates these Terms.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the safety, security, or integrity of the Service. When your account is deleted, your identifying information is anonymized in our systems; some content you posted publicly may remain available without identifying you, and any unused credit balance is forfeited. What is deleted and what is kept is set out on our support page, which also carries a route to request deletion without the app.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MovieWhiz and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MovieWhiz is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction unless local consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring action elsewhere.
13. Apple App Store
The following applies to the MovieWhiz app obtained from Apple’s App Store, and is required by Apple.
- These Terms are between you and MovieWhiz only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind.
- MovieWhiz, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- MovieWhiz, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that party’s intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
